PLAYGROUND ETIQUETTE PRESENTS: A SUNRISE BEACH READING

Join us on Sunday morning, October 5th, for a sunrise beach reading featuring Angel Bouquet, Maya Odim, and Surinder Martignetti, three local Chicago artists and writers! Make sure to bring a blanket or beach chair for this sandy reading. No RSVP required. Just bring yourself, friends, and yummy, morning treats.

Angel Bouquet (they/them) is a queer, trans writer and librarian with a Scorpio moon. Their hobbies include reading tarot cards, playing D&D, thinking about the homoerotic tension between Jesus and his disciples, and collage.

Maya Odim is a poet and performer who purposefully mounts work in performance spaces that challenge occidental framings—and imaginings, of performance and the performer. Of African American, Igbo and Afro-Cuban lineage, Maya is a dual citizen of Nigeria and the United States who lives in Chicago and travels often. Maya is currently an MFA Writing candidate at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Surinder Martignetti holds a BA in Dance and Theater and a Graduate Diploma in Education from Western Sydney University in Australia. She also holds a Masters Degree in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago. Surinder has deep knowledge of the Chicago dance, performing arts and museum fields and she now is founder and lead connector at Connect the Dots Projects and consulting, a bespoke arts and humanities agency. Other career highlights include; See Chicago Dance in various program management capacities for over 10 years, roles with The Gate Way Foundation, Chicago Dancing Festival, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago Ideas Week and The International Music Foundation. She has experience in Project and Production Management, Artistic practice, Education, Grant writing, Accounting, and through Connect the Dots, Surinder mentors and facilitates conversations with artists of all disciplines to aid them in taking the next step in their career or project. She has worked with  artists of all disciplines including; Along with her life as an arts administrator and mentor, she is a dancer, jewelry maker, poet, and storyteller and also performs under the alias Miss Mittens.
